Poor Johnny, poor,
wished for more,
so they tell
guiding him to hell.

Well.

It's Midsummer Eve here in Finland. Elves and fairies are starting to dance over lakes, the midnight fiesta is about to start.

We have something like that in Fremont. Tomorrow there will be a parade with naked bicycle riders and floats made out of rubbish and such.

Alternatively, Melbourne, Australia: the Winter Solstice. Shortest day, longest night. We'll be going to a bonfire and act-up event at the Collingwood Children's Farm.

Summer Solstice here in the Ozarks = the "Firefly Festival" at the botanical gardens - music, making bamboo star sculptures, puppetry, plants, lightening bugs n such.

Interesting array of blog comments here - a little reflection of the comparative cultural landscape. What a world.

Yes and it's quite good that we are all in tune with the precession of the seasons. It's also good that the Mariners bring a new meaning to futility and thus inspired this entry and your ensuing comments. Love on us all.

Yup. That's my team. Bringing futility to baseball...
