Big Laughs from the Morocco Notebook

Marginalia

coming straight outta Rabat.
Study a broad.
Study a bored.
Hmmmmmm...
Was Catcher in the Rye
more wry than I thought
when I was young
knew "everything"
and couldn't sit still
and dug on the HC?

avec accent, dude
cro magnon cum laude
Qahwa = coffee (mmmmmmm!)
mTssFa = sorry (very important)
"because you're old"
Ktab = book (yea!)
Nass = people
the leaving noises
blank faced compass
sharp dullard
inshallah = if God wills it
again but not again
Don't Ever Antagonize The Horn
vintage whine
Djema El Fna (yea! yea! yea!)
liminal age
mute soliloquy
itinerant irritant
hypersubjective induced nausea
skeptic antiseptic
Narrative irony suggests the collapse of Victorian certainty (bam!)
Bab Laalou - Rue Jirari
Season of Migration to The North (pow!)
The Sacred Night (wham!)

The smell of fresh baked bread
from the ovens of the medina
was always right there
seconds before
the adhan
called the old men
who were already slowly
moving down the still dark street
to prayer.

UA you say. I best take a look.

"Inshallan" is phonetic for If God wills it. That's how we learned Arabic - phonetically. I miss Zubia. She was good fun.
